Dolce and Gabbana Along with Smeg Are Putting an End To Boring Kitchen Appliances

Countertop items may not go unnoticed anymore. Italian fashion firm Dolce and Gabbana has found a largely unexplored area of design: the surface of kitchen appliances. Using Sicilian graphic and ornamental motifs, the company has produced a line of attention grabbing pieces including a toaster, juicer, coffee machine, kettle and blender. The line is called “Sicily is My Love” and was created¬†with Italian appliance manufacturer¬†Smeg.

The collection was presented in this year’s Salone Del Mobile Milano. The exhibition in Milan is the largest trade fair of its kind in the world and is considered the leading event of introducing new home furniture, lighting and appliances.

The collaboration is done for a second year in a row after the two companies created a collection of incredibly detailed refrigerators. Each one in the collection was hand-painted and then scratch-proof sealed. The collection was created to celebrate the richness of Sicilian art and decorative traditions. Just keep in mind, before you jump on the “buy it now” button that they cost $34,000 each but arguably, well worth the price!
