Conceptual artist Fong Qi Wei presents us with a unique reading of flowers. Arranged on a flat sheet of paper his series of exploded flowers turns these natural creations into amazing geometric compositions. Rich in color and form and resembling fireworks, these are fascinating to see!

Although these have been around for a while, it’s great to see them again in the context of summer and the latest works by Singaporean artist Fong Qi Wei. We at Epistrophy love his work and previously featured his “TIme Is A Dimension” photo series.

In the artist’s words:

My philosophy is that an artist is a communicator, and that the artist’s message should be an authentic one. The artist, in order to create great work, should strive to ensure purity of message.

I try to engage my audience by providing a new perspective on familiar subjects or themes. Through my art, I hope to introduce my point of view to my the viewer and engage them beyond aesthetics. I wish to provoke them to think further about the familiar and ordinary.”

A limited edition of the flower prints are available for purchase on Fong Qi Wei’s website.
