The way these images were produced is absolutely fascinating. Creative studio Side-by-Side filled air balloons with colored powder paint and burst them mid-air. The process was captured by a high-speed camera and then edited to create these spectacular letters. This one-of-a-kind typography was invented for the 2017 edition of the 36 Days of Type Project, which is a forum for graphic designers and illustrators to showcase their particular point of view on letters and numbers of the alphabet.
The 36 Days of Type challenges designers to create a number or letter of their choice every day, which results in a collection of exciting images rendering the same subject in many different ways.
Side-by-Side is Sheffield, UK based studio which works with forward thinking brands to create unique visual experiences. Their aim is to blend work and play in the design process because, according to the company’s founders, it how true creativity is born. Epistrophy couldn’t agree more with that statement. And we’d love to see our name made out of these letters!
